Hey girlies. I'm writing this from my cell phone...how weird is that? We made it through the storm. The big dead tree is still there and our basement is dry...whew!! We lost power yesterday at 3pm. Praying it will return soon, but a little concerned it could be many many days. Completely kicking ourselves for not buying a generator. That was really not smart...oh and we have maybe 4 D batteries to tied us over...yay;) Hey we are having an adventure. Just wanted to let you know that we are still here, a little hot and grouchy but blessed nonetheless. Thank you for the prayers. I'll post more when the power finally returns. Love ya.
Hot water...safety...peanut butter...glowing candlelight...car phone charger...intact home and family
So glad are okay. My parents said they were told it could be a week before they have power back on, I pray it isn't that long. They were filling coolers with ice today and grilling all the meat that had defrosted from their freezer so that it wouldn't go bad. Want their address? You could go over and introduce yourself and eat with them, hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteoh phew! so glad to get an update. hopefully camping in your house won't last too long. thankful that you are well. hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteaaaaaah!! hang in there!
ReplyDeleteSo GLAD to hear from you! I was wondering? Yes thank goodness for cell phone chargers!
ReplyDeleteOddly enough when your post loaded on my phone all that loaded was the post & comment box (which I know is totally my phone, but some how seemed appropriate) seems the storm took out your header! ;)

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear everyone made it through. It was scary up where I am too. We were in a state of emergency with a tornado watch in effect..very stressful. However, other than really strong winds (we're inland, so no flooding) it seems to be all over.
Hey..you really know how to create adventures when you move..lol.
Take care & check in soon.
Maria

ReplyDeleteI've been glued to my laptop (facebook mostly) for the last couple of days to see what was going on with my peeps on the east coast. I thought I'd check in to see how things are going with you all. Glad that your tree didn't fall and that you are all well. I remember the power going out when we were kids and thinking that it was so fun. Sometimes it's nice to have a break from computers and television, even if it is forced. Take care, Farm Girl! :)

ReplyDeleteSorry I missed your "calm before the storm" post, though I'm not sure I would've been any help to you. I like big storms, but the whole time I'm praying that on one will be hurt. I find storms humbling...a reminder of my powerlessness and complete dependence upon God. I know that must sound really weird and even insensitive, but I say it humbly...as one who's been through some big storms. We had a massive hurricane a few years ago (big enough to scare me a bit), and strangely, the best part was losing power for a bit...even with our heat here in Houston. Because without power, we lived simply...really simply. And neighbors came our of their shells (their busy, over scheduled lives) to help each other (sometimes getting to know each other for the first time). That part was all good. I hope you'll find blessings as you wait for power.
ReplyDeletelove,
Linsey
